From Him We Come, And To Him We All Return

ABODE OF MERCY CEMETERY PRESENTATION

Death is a very painful and emotional time, yet one that may be filled with hope and mercy. Muslims believe that death is a departure from the life of this world, but not the end of a person’s existence. Rather, eternal life is to come, and we pray for God’s mercy to be with the departed, in hopes that they may find peace and happiness in the life to come.

The deceased should then be taken to the cemetery for proper burial- while those who attend the burial humbly remember Allah and His mercy, and pray for the deceased. Thereafter, mourning is observed, in Islam, by increased devotion, receiving visitors and condolences, and avoiding decorative clothing and jewelry. In Nigeria, safe for a few mixed cemeteries, there is a great need for a Muslim cemetery that will cater to the specific needs of the Muslim community.

As we struggle to better our lots and be the best we can be in this life we should not forget the cutter of hope; we should not forget the destroyer of enjoyment. We should not forget that which will take us to the lonely place. We should keep death in remembrance always and try our possible best to prepare for its arrival; may Allah assist us in the preparation, amin.

When one dies, everything in this earthly life is left behind, and there are no more opportunities to perform acts of righteousness and faith. The Prophet Muhammad once said that there are three things, however, which may continue to benefit a person after death: charity given during life which continues to help others, knowledge from which people continue to benefit, and a righteous child who prays for him or her.

It is with these in mind that the Abode of Mercy project was conceived. The Abode of Mercy project is a decent burial ground project for Muslims to be run by a select Trustee according to one of the best models in the world.

Volunteers are required to support the works that are going on in this project.
