Bro Qudus Ali

  • Spinal cord case
  • Evaluated at LASUTH
  • Evacuated to India for surgery
  • Post-surgery stem cell injection
  • Back in Nigeria - Had four months aggressive physiotherapy, which included providing:
    • dedicated physiotherapist for the four months period
    • feeding arrangement for the four months period
    • provided orthopedic bed, blanket, bedsheets, exercise mat, standing board and muscle stimulator to aid recuperation
  • Hand over to family
  • Costs: Trip to India and back & Treatments in India: N3,139,373; Post surgery/recuperation: N327,000
  • A medical practitioner described his current recuperation level as some sort of miracle to be celebrated as it is rare to her knowledge.

  • He has continued the exercise regimen, supervised by the physiotherapist. With a belt strapped to the back he is now able to stand while holding an object.

  • He can now remain in standing position for up to 10 hours a day. Bro Qudus said he is very hopeful and optimistic that insha Allah he would at some point in future be able to make use of his limbs.
  • Said the physio mentioned that were it not for the length of time (2005 - 2008) before the evacuation intervention came, he probably would have been walking by now.


 
Bro. Abdul Rasheed
Bro. Rasheed Odesanmi, a 200L Zoology student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife had an accident a few years ago which caused injuries to his spinal cord. Since then, he has been on wheel chair. Because the lower part of his body is dead, he does not feel any need to change position while sitting etc.


 
Bro. Abdul Rahman
Brother Abdurrahman Yusuf Ali- a 29years old committed Muslim brother from Kaduna State was involved in an auto accident while on his way to deliver lecture at an Islamic function at MSS Kebbi State University on the 29th November 2008. He suffered multiple spinal cord injury.


 

Bro Mushafau Oke Adebayo

The Sakinah Project assisted Brother Mushafau Oke Adebayo seek part of the 1.5Million Naira he needed to enable him seek urgent medical treatment to treat a 3-year old chest ailment.

 


 

Aisha Dikko

Aisha had lost her left eye to cancer a year ago and the dreaded ailment was going to eat up her right eye (the only eye remaining) Urgent medical operation was required to save the second eye and the sum of 1 Million Naira was required.


 

Sister Mujidat Abdulsallam

Spinal cord case: In 2007, Sister Mujidat, a staff nurse at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria, became Patient NO: 064986 at the hospital where she had worked and cared for the sick. With multiple injuries involving blunt chest trauma and thoracic spinal injuries with associated inability to move her lower limbs and loss of sensation. She was admitted semiconscious at the hospital after an auto accident along the Kaduna-Zaria road that left her spinal cord fragmented.
